Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you use the 'Cry It Out' method?

No, we do not use the Cry It Out (CIO) method in our sleep plans—though we hold no judgment toward parents who choose to. At Sleep Goals, we take a responsive and supportive approach to sleep training. Most families work with us using either the Chair Method or Ferber Method, both of which involve checking in on your child and offering reassurance while encouraging independent sleep skills. We explain each method in detail and allow parents to choose (and even change) their preferred method throughout the process. Your comfort level and parenting style are always part of the conversation before we begin.

2. What age is best to start sleep training?

We typically recommend beginning sleep training around 13 weeks (full-term), when babies are developmentally ready to learn independent sleep skills. However, it’s never too late—toddlers and preschoolers benefit from customized sleep plans too! If your baby is younger than 13 weeks, check out our Newborn Sleep Guide to build strong sleep foundations early on.

3. How long does sleep training take?

Our programs are designed to bring results in under 2 weeks, with many families seeing progress in just a few days. Consistency is key—and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

4. Do you offer support during the process?

Yes! All of our packages include daily support for the entire duration of your plan. You’re never alone—questions, setbacks, and successes are all part of the journey, and we’re here to guide you through it.

5. Can I use your services if I’m breastfeeding?

Absolutely. Breastfeeding and sleep training can work beautifully together. We’ll help you optimize your baby’s feeds during the day and night so you can continue nursing while still building healthy sleep habits.

6. Do your services qualify for insurance coverage?

Some private insurance plans may cover sleep consulting under Health Spending Accounts (HSAs) or wellness benefits. We recommend contacting your provider to confirm eligibility. We’re happy to provide invoices and documentation upon request. Additionally, Ashley, a Registered Social Worker on our team, is covered by most Ontario insurance plans. You can book a call with her here.

7. What if it doesn’t work for my baby?

Every child is different, and sleep isn’t one-size-fits-all. Our methods are evidence-based and tailored to your child’s age, temperament, and your family’s goals. With consistent implementation and open communication, families typically see strong results. If things aren’t progressing as expected, we’ll troubleshoot and even extend support at no extra cost if needed.

8. Do you work with toddlers?

We work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children up to 10 years old. Whether it’s night wakings, bedtime struggles, or nap refusals—we can create a personalized plan for your child’s unique stage.

9. Do you offer in-home services in the GTA?

At this time, we offer virtual services only, including support via text, video calls, phone calls, and email.
